台中市政府勞工局為提供民眾學習一技之長，委託台中市洋服縫紉商業同業公會辦理「縫紉與服裝製作基礎培訓班」，為期2個月總計250小時的培訓課，有30人獲頒結訓證書。勞工局長黃荷婷受邀參加結訓典禮時，感謝公會提供二度就業者及年輕人學習平台，也期許學員以此為基礎，發揮創意巧思和敬業態度，順利就業，進而能創業。
台中市洋服縫紉商業同業公會理事長商淑華表示，該公會發揮「取之於社會、用之於社會」的精神，期望對縫紉技術的教育盡一份心力。根據調查，有17.8%的人力將在5年內退休，10年內會有45.8%的人退休；因應人力缺乏，技術難以傳承，未來也會繼續爭取縫紉培訓計劃，及早培育對縫紉有興趣的年輕人，跨越人力斷層問題。
商理事長指出，此次首辦的培訓班課程，規畫服裝製作入門、工具機介紹、縫製和整燙技巧、服裝製圖講解、襯衫製作、褲子製作、背心製作、裙子製作等專業課程；也邀請葉鴻裕老師主講「就業市場趨勢分析及求職技巧」、林玉如老師分享「性別平等」，最後結訓的30名學員舉辦成果展，由公會評選名次頒獎表揚，並現場舉辦職業媒合，期望讓學員順利就業，堪稱專業就業一條龍服務。
技術委員彭永在也說，結訓學員除了選擇就業外，也可以召集志同道合的同學，創業合租辦公室分擔費用，各自接案、互相支援、砌磋技藝；並鼓勵學員多閱讀國外時尚雜誌，掌握流行趨勢，在服裝業才能站穩腳步。

美國PGA紀念巡迴賽落幕，前球王伍茲（Tiger Woods）未能演出逆轉秀，最後也以279桿獲得並列第23名；24歲美國球員迪尚布（Bryson DeChambeau），則是經2洞的延長，靠著12呎的「鳥推」得手，贏得生涯第2座PGA冠軍。
